Adoption Process

The adoption fees are as follows: Puppies of medium to large breeds, six months and younger, are $275. Puppies of toy to small breeds, six months and younger, are $325. Adult dogs of medium to large mixed breeds, seven months and older, are $175. Adult dogs of toy to small breeds, seven months and older, are $225. Purebred adult dogs that are medium to large and seven months and older are $200. Potential adopters must interact with the dog and complete an adoption application online. We will verify landlord information and check veterinary references. A home check will be conducted when necessary. All adoptions include age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, heartworm and tick-borne disease testing, and treatment if needed. It is mandatory that the dog be returned to us if the adoption does not work out. We also strongly encourage prospective adopters to bring their existing dog(s) for on-site introductions.

Dogs by Debin is based in Kansas City, Missouri, where we provide shelter and care for approximately 40 dogs at any given time. Our dogs come to us through various means, including owner surrenders, strays, and transfers from local high-intake shelters. We maintain a balanced population of dogs that require medical attention, behavioral rehabilitation, and those that are ready for immediate adoption. Every dog in our care is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested, with treatment provided for those who test positive. Our organization was established to address a gap in the local animal welfare system. While open-intake shelters strive to help, their resources are limited, and the environment can be stressful for the dogs. We act as a transitional facility, allowing dogs to regain their well-being through behavioral modification, ample space to play, and necessary veterinary care. This may sometimes delay adoption, but we prioritize setting our dogs up for success by ensuring they are matched with the right families. Our ultimate goal is to facilitate lifelong adoptions. Our primary objective is to help dogs remain in their current homes whenever it is safe to do so. We provide counseling and resources to support this effort. If keeping a dog is not feasible, we welcome safe surrenders if we have the capacity. We invite you to support our mission through donations.
