Adoption Process

Potential adopters are required to complete an adoption application, which does not commit you to anything. Adoption fees are $90.00 for a single animal or $150.00 for a pair. All animals have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and tested for FeLV/FIV in cats and heartworm in dogs. Additionally, all animals are microchipped. Our goal is to ensure the best possible match for each animal. Since we are primarily staffed by volunteers, we kindly ask for your patience as we respond to your application.

Service Areas

The organization serves the Greater Kansas City Metro Area, which includes Cass, Bates, Henry, and Johnson Counties, as well as Lafayette County in Missouri. Additionally, it covers the cities of Belton and Raymore, Missouri.

HELP Humane Society in Belton, MO

HELP Humane Society Inc. is a non-profit organization operated by a dedicated group of animal lovers in Cass County, Missouri, located just south of Kansas City. All animals in our care receive veterinary treatment, which includes age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, spaying or neutering, and microchipping for those admitted after October 2005. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, with negative results unless otherwise noted. Dogs are tested for heartworm and are placed on preventative medication. HELP operates as a true no-kill shelter and does not accept owner-relinquished animals. Instead, we focus on rescuing stray dogs and cats from the streets. Many adopters have expressed that they chose to adopt from us because of our welcoming environment and the friendly nature of our cats. We believe that every animal deserves a chance, including those that are FIV or FeLV positive, as well as feral cats. These animals will remain with us until the end of their lives or until we can find them a permanent home. Currently, we are facing a financial crisis and are in urgent need of additional funding to sustain our mission. We are also seeking foster homes, as more fosters will enable us to assist more pets. Additionally, we require more volunteers and a grant writer. Donations of money and pet supplies are greatly appreciated. Our regular monthly meetings take place at 7:00 PM on the first Tuesday of each month at our shelter located at 511 Main St., Belton, MO 64114.
