Ozark Haven Rescue, LLC a Not for Profit Organization in Cabool, MO

Ozark Haven is a 501(c)(3) recognized Limited Liability Corporation and an animal rescue organization licensed in the state of Missouri. We are actively involved in various initiatives to support dogs in Southern Missouri. Our Foster Care Program provides a temporary home for homeless dogs until they can be adopted into permanent families. Additionally, our sister site serves as a Safety Forum, showcasing dogs in our communities that are not in foster care but remain in their current situations. Through this forum, we connect these dogs with other rescues, increasing their chances of finding safe homes. We also collaborate with CARE, a nonprofit dedicated to transporting homeless dogs, allowing Southern Missouri dogs access to regions where they may have better adoption opportunities. Dogs in the rural forest communities of Southern Missouri often do not have local support, making them vulnerable to dire situations. Our Safety Forum aims to give these dogs fair visibility and help them find suitable options for a safe and caring life. Our Dominick's Honor program addresses the issue of tethering, which poses serious risks to dogs. Many rural areas do not prioritize this issue, and while we cannot lobby for change, we provide lightweight harnesses and cables to improve conditions for tethered dogs. We also promote our Safety Forum services to assist these dogs in finding homes where they can receive proper care. Our Littering the Ozarks Program has been successful, and we plan to expand it in the coming year. This initiative offers screened placement for unwanted litters in the community, provided that the owners of the mother dog consent to have her spayed. The program has received positive feedback and is targeted for growth in 2024. Lastly, our Feral Dog Project addresses the problem of abandoned dogs, which is a significant concern in our communities. Many dogs are left to fend for themselves after being dumped, leading to issues such as disease, starvation, and conflicts with wildlife. These dogs can also pose challenges for farmers and disrupt local ecosystems. The Feral Dog Project supports humane trapping, rehabilitation, and placement of these animals. In the future, we hope to establish a safe compound for feral dogs that are not suitable for companionship, allowing them to live in a protected environment while receiving care. Many of these once-abandoned dogs can become loving pets, highlighting the importance of our work.
