Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the submission of an application. This is followed by a background check and the requirement for references. An interview process is conducted to further assess the applicant. It is also necessary for any existing pets of the applicant to be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Adoption fees are as follows: - Domestic Shorthair kittens: $125 to $150 - Seniors (7 years and older): $50 - Blue-eyed and fluffy cats or those with polydactyly: $200 - Blue-eyed and fluffy kittens: $350 - Seal or blue point cats (with or without mittens): $250 - Maine Coon mixes: $200 - Known Maine Coon purebreds: $500 - Ragdoll mixes: $300 to $350 - Bengals: $350 Approved applicants must sign an adoption manual and contract. All fees must be paid in full before the adoption is finalized and possession of the animal is taken.

Applicants who have a medical doctor's recommendation for an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) are paired with a comfort kitty that meets their specific requirements. SOS takes great pride in offering this valuable service to its applicants.
