Adoption Process
The adoption fee for our dogs is $250. This fee helps ensure that the dog you wish to adopt receives appropriate medical care, training, and support for their social and emotional needs while they are in our rescue program. The fee covers essential services, including: - Spay/neutering appropriate for the dog's age - Age-appropriate vaccinations (DA2PP, Leptospirosis, Bordatella, Rabies) - Heartworm testing (and treatment if the test is positive) - Monthly prevention for heartworm, fleas, and ticks - An implanted microchip - Fecal testing and necessary deworming - A LupinePet collar and leash set - A healthy, high-quality diet - Age-appropriate toys for physical and mental stimulation - Training, such as kennel training, potty training, leash training, and basic manners, as suitable for the dog's age The expenses associated with caring for each rescue animal significantly exceed the adoption fee. However, we aim to make the adoption process affordable, as our mission is to place well-socialized and healthy pit bull and bully breed type dogs into loving homes that have been carefully screened. To begin the adoption process, all applicants must submit a comprehensive adoption application, provide veterinary records for current pets, share home check pictures, and supply references. Once we receive all required materials, we will conduct phone interviews with our executive team. We select homes based on what we determine to be the best fit for each dog. After approving a home for adoption, we arrange a meet-and-greet, which may lead to an adoption or a trial adoption period. Upon finalizing an adoption, we complete a standard adoption contract along with any necessary addendums related to the dog's behavioral or medical needs.
Service Areas
We are centrally located in Bryan/College Station, Texas, and have foster leads throughout the state, supported by small groups of foster homes in various areas. Our adoption efforts extend across the entire country and even into Canada.
Make A Stand Bully Rescue in Houston, TX
We are a nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to ending canine neglect and promoting a society that embraces bully breeds through adoption programs and advocacy efforts. Our vision is to create a community where bully breeds are accepted and responsible pet ownership is the norm. With some exceptions, all dogs available for adoption from our organization are pit bulls, bully breeds, and their mixes. Most of these dogs are rescued from high-capacity municipal shelters and holding facilities throughout our state, where they face the risk of euthanasia due to factors such as breed, age, illness, injury, behavior, temperament, or lack of space. Upon entering our rescue, each dog is placed in a foster home, where they are exposed to different environments to assess their behaviors, responses, and triggers. This careful evaluation process enables us to identify the most appropriate adoptive placement for each dog. We use a "Best Fit" model of adoption, ensuring that every application is reviewed and matched with a home that can best meet the needs of the individual dog.
