Adoption Process

The adoption process includes the completion of an adoption application and the signing of an adoption contract. There are adoption fees associated with most species, generally ranging from $75 to $150 for larger animals. Additionally, donations are welcomed for the support of native species.

Central Texas Tortoise Rescue in San Marcos, TX

I am a full-time endangered species biologist working for a private consulting firm, while my husband and I manage a rescue operation from our home. Several years ago, my professional role connected me with the herpetologist at our state's natural resource regulatory agency. We discussed the overwhelming number of tortoises in rehabilitation centers, zoos, and rescues, which highlighted the need for more support. This conversation inspired me to establish CTTR. In just 18 months, we have assisted over 100 animals, successfully launched fundraising campaigns, and received two grants for facility improvement, disaster prevention, and expansion.
