Adoption Process

The cost of adopting a dog varies by age and special category. For puppies aged 0 to 6 months, the adoption fee is $250. Adult dogs aged 6 months or older are available for $125, while VIP dogs can be adopted for $50. Senior dogs, those aged 7 years and older, also have a fee of $50. It is important to note that a valid picture ID is required to adopt an animal from the SPCA of Texas. When you adopt a dog, the following services and items are included: - Spay or neuter surgery - 30 days of pet health insurance provided by PetHealth - A physical exam - A health evaluation - A behavior assessment - Distemper vaccination - Kennel cough (Bordetella) vaccination - Rabies vaccination (for dogs at least 4 months old) - A rabies tag - A starter bag of Hill's Science Diet Dog Food - Flea and tick treatment - Heartworm test for adult dogs - Heartworm preventative for puppies and adults - Free heartworm treatment for heartworm-positive dogs, thanks to our partnership with VCA Animal Hospitals - De-worming treatment - A microchip - Follow-up support - A free health examination within fourteen days of adoption, provided by VCA Animal Hospitals - A temporary leash The cost of adopting a cat is $125 for kittens. For adult cats, adopters can name their own price, and there is also a two-for-one offer available. A valid picture ID is also required to adopt a cat from the SPCA of Texas. Included in a cat adoption are: - Spay or neuter surgery - 30 days of pet health insurance provided by PetHealth - A physical exam - A health evaluation - A behavior assessment - Vaccinations for Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calici, and Pan-Leukopenia as appropriate - Kennel cough (Bordetella) vaccination - Rabies vaccination (for cats at least 4 months old) - A rabies tag - A starter bag of Hill's Science Diet Cat Food - Flea and tick treatment - De-worming treatment - A microchip - Follow-up support - A free health examination within fourteen days of adoption, provided by VCA Animal Hospitals - A temporary carrier
