Adoption Process
Dogs in our foster care program are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms, and are on a regular heartworm preventative. They are cared for in loving foster homes where they receive training and socialization to help them adjust to their new homes more easily. To complete the adoption process, please follow these steps: First, fill out the PAWS for Irving Animals Adoption Application Contract. You can type in your information, but you will need to print and sign the document. You can return it as a PDF to [email protected] or fax it to 214-764-2138. If you are attending an event, you may also complete the application on-site. Next, schedule a home visit. Once we receive your adoption application, a volunteer from PAWS for Irving Animals will visit your home with the pet you wish to adopt. This visit allows the pet to meet all members of your immediate family, including other pets, to ensure a good match. After that, complete the 24PetWatch Change of Ownership Form. This form will be used to transfer the microchip registration to your name, making it easier to return your pet if they are lost. You do not need to fill in the payment information, as this is included in your adoption fee. Since the form does not allow for typing, please print it and handwrite the necessary information. You can return it as a PDF to [email protected] or fax it to 214-764-2138. As you are adopting from a rescue, we will submit this form on your behalf along with other documents to complete the registration process. Finally, please send the adoption fee of $150. This fee covers various expenses, including full veterinary care (spay/neuter, vaccinations, etc.) and registration of the microchip in your name.
