K-9 Angels Rescue, Inc. in Houston, TX
K-9 Angels Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs of all breeds. Founded in February 2012, our team consists of core volunteers who bring years of experience from various rescue groups in Houston. Since our inception, we have successfully found homes for over 2,300 dogs as of December 2015. Our volunteers are passionate advocates for companion animal welfare, dedicating their time, skills, and resources to save abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected, orphaned, rejected, stray, and surrendered dogs from local animal control facilities in Houston. We are committed to rescuing these dogs regardless of their breed or background. Our mission includes educating the public about the consequences of irresponsible breeding practices and addressing the overcrowding in local shelters. All members of the K-9 Angels Rescue Board and our volunteers are unpaid and fully committed to our cause. We do not operate as a traditional shelter and do not accept dogs directly from the public. Instead, we select dogs from local animal control facilities, where many face the risk of euthanasia simply because they do not have homes. Once a dog is accepted into our rescue program, it remains in our care until we find the most suitable match with a new caregiver. We prioritize fostering, as foster homes provide dogs with a loving and safe environment, which also allows for behavioral assessment and training. When foster homes are unavailable, dogs are housed in kennels until they can be transported to our Adoption Center on Saturday mornings.
