About this shelter
Dachshund Rescue of Houston in Friendswood, TX
Our primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home Dachshunds that need a second chance at life and love. We focus on saving both purebred and some mixed Dachshunds from shelters and pounds. While some of these dogs have experienced happy lives before being surrendered for no apparent reason, others have faced abuse, neglect, and a lack of care and affection. We believe that there is a suitable home for every rescued dog, though some may take longer to find. Dachshund Rescue of Houston is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies solely on donations. Our dedicated volunteers include professionals in law, accounting, and taxation, ensuring that all funds are managed in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements related to our tax-exempt status. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Since we do not have paid staff or facilities, every dollar of your donation directly supports the care and veterinary needs of our Dachshunds. The fundraising events we organize are sustainable thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors. We are a close-knit group of Dachshund enthusiasts based in Houston, deeply passionate about the breed and committed to alleviating the suffering of these wonderful dogs.
