Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with a screening application, followed by reference checks and a phone interview. If a potential match is identified, a play date is scheduled. Should we decide to proceed, a home visit will be conducted to ensure the new pet is properly introduced to any existing pets. If this introduction is successful, a mandatory trial placement of 72 hours will take place. To finalize the adoption, the prospective adopter must complete a contract, initial the adoption requirement statements, sign and date the document, and provide a check for the adoption fee. Both the contract and the check will be held for the duration of the trial period. At the end of the 72-hour trial, if both the organization and the potential adopter agree on the placement, the organization will sign and execute the contract, providing a copy along with the pet's medical records to the approved adopter. Follow-up communications will occur at one week, one month, three months, and six months after the adoption.

DFW Pup Patrol Rescue in Wylie, TX

We are a small independent rescue organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming homeless pets. Our animals come from various sources, including the streets, local shelters, owner surrenders, and families seeking assistance in rehoming their pets. All pets in our care or adopted through our organization receive comprehensive veterinary care, including vaccinations, heartworm and fecal testing, spaying or neutering, and ongoing heartworm prevention. We actively promote spaying and neutering and strive to place each pet in a permanent, loving home.
