Simple Girl Doggie Haven in Holly, MI
One girl's mission is to advocate for underprivileged dogs and make a meaningful impact in dog rescue, focusing on one dog at a time. She is dedicated to helping dogs with physical, medical, and other special needs, including disabilities such as blindness, deafness, and behavioral issues. Her goal is to provide these animals with a chance for survival through essential medical care and training, allowing them to experience love and compassion. Ultimately, she aims to teach them to trust and, when they are ready, help them find their forever homes. Simple Girl Doggie Haven (SGDH) is committed to saving the lives of dogs that are often considered unadoptable by most shelters. According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.5 million animals enter shelters nationwide each year, with 1.5 million being euthanized due to time and space constraints, particularly for medical reasons. SGDH seeks to reduce companion animal homelessness, especially among unadoptable dogs, by establishing a network within rescues and shelters, supporting the community in keeping pets in their homes, promoting aggressive spay/neuter services, and strengthening the human-animal bond through education and outreach programs. In its rescue and adoption efforts, Simple Girl Doggie Haven plans to collaborate with local animal shelters, both within and outside of Michigan, to save dogs at high risk of euthanasia. This includes puppies vulnerable to illness due to their immature immune systems, pregnant or nursing mothers needing a safe environment for their puppies, dogs facing emotional or physical challenges in the shelter, and those who have exhausted their time in the shelter system. SGDH will not discriminate based on breed and will operate on a foster and volunteer basis, as fostering provides the individualized attention these dogs need. This approach also helps reduce overhead costs, allowing more donations to be directed toward saving dogs.
