Adoption Process

Our goal is to place cats exclusively in secure, safe, stable, and loving homes, which is why we conduct a thorough review of all applications. Interested pet parents begin by completing an Adoption Application. We then review the application, contact the applicant, and arrange a visit for them to meet our cats. Additionally, we check references, contact their veterinarian, and confirm that their designated backup person is prepared to care for the cats if necessary. Once these steps are completed, we finalize a Foster Agreement. After approximately two weeks, and once all parties are satisfied, we receive the finalized Adoption Agreement.

Service Areas

We serve the following areas: New York City, the Bronx in New York, Westchester County in New York, and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

New York City Cat Coalition in Bronx, NY

The NYC Cat Coalition is dedicated to rescuing cats and kittens from the streets or through owner surrender. We provide necessary veterinary care, assess their needs, and ensure they receive love before finding them suitable forever homes. Our volunteers actively feed several feral cat colonies, conduct trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts, and provide winter shelters for these animals. We also foster cats and maintain a presence at the cat center in Pelham Manor Petsmart, as well as bringing cats to the Scarsdale Petsmart every Sunday. Additionally, we participate in National Adoption Weekend events. We follow up with adopters and offer assistance in their homes to help integrate the cats into their new environments if needed. Our organization is comprised of individuals who are passionate about showing kindness, love, and compassion to cats. In the Bronx, where there is no animal shelter, the needs of animals are particularly underserved. Across all five boroughs of New York City, there are only three animal shelters, and unfortunately, many cats are euthanized. We strive to do everything we can to save as many cats as possible through our small organization.
