Help Save Pets
Adoption Process
Adopters are required to complete an application and spend time with the animals they are considering for adoption. Each adopter undergoes a thorough screening process that includes checking veterinary and personal references, as well as conducting a home visit. We ask for a donation, the amount of which will be agreed upon by all parties, to help cover our expenses related to medical care, transportation, training, and pet supplies. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we always welcome donations, which can include healthy treats, high-quality pet food, crates, blankets, new leashes and collars, toys, gift certificates to pet supply stores, kitty litter, and more. Please note that kittens can only be adopted in pairs or to homes that are appropriate for their age. Additionally, resident cats must provide proof of having been tested for FIV/FeLV.
Service Areas
The service areas include the Greater Metropolitan Area, primarily encompassing New York City and its boroughs, as well as New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.
Zani's Furry Friends in NYC, NY
Zani's Furry Friends is dedicated to rescuing companion animals from shelters in New York City, where many face the risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding. Each animal we rescue creates space for another, providing them an opportunity for adoption or further rescue, thus potentially saving another life. While we may not always know the exact background of each animal, those we place are typically well-socialized family pets who have come to the shelter through no fault of their own. We rescue animals of all ages, including kittens, puppies, bunnies, and adult pets, all of whom deserve a second chance at a loving home. We do not operate a shelter or boarding facility; instead, we rely on foster homes to care for our animals until they find permanent homes. All our dogs and cats are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and our dogs are microchipped and heartworm negative. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV if they are old enough. Please review our list of animals available for adoption. If you do not find a suitable match or see an animal marked as adopted, feel free to contact us at [email protected] to share what you are looking for; we may be able to assist you in finding the perfect companion. We continually rescue new animals and will keep specific requests from potential adopters in mind. Zani's Furry Friends is a volunteer-run organization that does not receive funding or sponsorship. We rely on the generosity of individuals who donate time, supplies, and funds. We are always in need of additional foster homes for dogs and cats to help us rescue more animals from the shelters. The shelters in our city face ongoing space challenges, resulting in many healthy, adoptable animals losing their lives daily. If you are interested in fostering one or more of our rescues, making a donation, or assisting with the various tasks involved in saving these animals, please reach out to us at [email protected] for more information. We look forward to collaborating with you.
