Adoption Process

We strive to keep our adoption process straightforward. An adoption application is available online, with links provided on our website and within each cat's profile. After submission, we will reach out to the prospective adopter to arrange a virtual visit and address any questions or concerns. If an in-person visit is necessary, we can schedule that as well. If everything feels right and the adoption is ready to proceed, we will require an adoption contract, which is sent via email along with a link for the adoption donation payment. The donation amount ranges from $200 to $500, depending on the specific cat. Once the contract and payment are completed, we will arrange for a mentor from LCR to transport the cat to the adopter's home. The mentor will assist with introductions, provide additional information from the foster home, and answer any further questions.

Lucky Cats Rescue in Watertown, MA

Support: Our mission is to provide assistance to shelters and rescues that care for cats and kittens requiring specialized or long-term care due to medical or behavioral challenges. We aim to deliver relief and resources to support their staff through various partnerships. We are committed to collaborating with existing organizations throughout Massachusetts, New England, and beyond to enhance our collective impact. Additionally, we offer temporary housing and compassionate care, medical support, and safety through our Emergency Foster Care program in collaboration with local domestic violence shelters. This program is designed to assist victims in transition who lack a safe place for their pets. Many domestic violence shelters cannot accommodate animals, which often prevents victims from leaving abusive situations. We strive to alleviate this concern by providing protection and support for both victims and their pets. Placement: Our adoption process is centered on two primary objectives. First, we carefully assess your reasons for wanting to adopt one of our cats and how you can meet their specific needs based on their unique histories. If you have experience caring for sick, traumatized, senior, or special needs cats—or if you have the willingness to learn—please consider adopting from us and becoming an Emotional Support Human for a cat in need. Second, we recognize the reciprocal benefits of companionship. Cats can provide comfort and joy, especially during difficult times. If you are seeking a feline companion, we encourage you to complete our Emotional Support Cat Application. We are here to listen and help connect you with a cat that suits your lifestyle. Protection: In the difficult weeks and months following the loss of a loved one, pets are often left in the care of family or friends. Pets also experience grief, and remaining with familiar faces can help them transition to a new home after losing their human. Unfortunately, there are times when no one can take in the cat(s), or the responsibility becomes overwhelming during a period of mourning. We are here to support you and the cat(s) of your loved one. We understand the challenges of such transitions and offer a safe, judgment-free environment. We take the necessary time to find the best new home for your loved one’s cat, ensuring they are cherished and happy. Alternatively, we can provide a permanent sanctuary placement in one of our dedicated Forever Foster Homes. With the generous donations and sponsorships from our supporters, our Forever Foster Homes will continue to receive assistance from Lucky Cats Rescue, ensuring that the cat is loved and cared for throughout their life.
