The adoption process includes the following steps: submitting an adoption application, undergoing an application approval process, having meetings with the prospective adopters and the animal, signing contracts, and paying a fee of $125.00.

The Natchitoches Humane Society, established in 1972 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, is dedicated to rescuing abandoned, neglected, and abused animals. We provide essential services such as medical treatment, spaying and neutering, socialization, training, and care while these animals await adoption into loving homes. Our rescue facility is located on the grounds of the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, where selected inmates care for the dogs. These animals benefit from play yards, walking areas, and basic obedience training under the supervision of the inmates. Our facility includes a sick room, a bathing area, and two quarantine kennels. While we do not house cats on-site, we facilitate their rescue through a network of foster homes. To help combat the issue of unwanted pets, we offer support to low-income residents via our Spay Natchitoches program. Our mission is to reduce the population of unwanted animals in Natchitoches Parish through adoption and spaying and neutering initiatives. We aspire to make our parish a model for successful collaboration in improving the lives of animals in our community.
