Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, potential adopters are required to complete a comprehensive application and undergo an interview with a trained matchmaker or officer. A home visit may also be necessary. Following these steps, a contract will be finalized. Adopters must be 21 years of age or older. The adoption fees are as follows: $90 for kittens aged six months and under, $70 for those aged six to twelve months, and $50 for cats one year and older. Additionally, a 50% discount is offered for the adoption of a second kitten. Mothers of kittens can be adopted at no cost when a kitten from their litter is adopted.

The SPCA of Livingston~Feline Program in Walker, LA

The SPCA of Livingston is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges faced by animals in southeastern Louisiana. Our mission is to educate the community on responsible pet ownership and to promote spay and neuter programs to reduce the number of healthy and adoptable pets that are euthanized. We believe that we can fulfill this mission through community outreach and education initiatives. The SPCA of Livingston primarily accepts owner-surrendered animals that are at risk of being taken to animal control facilities or from kill shelters in Livingston, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, and Ascension Parishes, upon direct request from a shelter director. We do not rescue stray animals within the city limits of municipalities that have their own animal control services unless requested to do so by the respective city's animal shelter director. However, we are committed to rescuing animals statewide from "kill shelters" when we receive a request from a shelter director or representative, as long as funding and foster homes are available.
