About this shelter
Pet Adoption Services, Inc in Kenner, LA
Pet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs of all breeds in New Orleans. Established in 1996, the organization is supported by over 20 volunteers, with some members having been involved in animal rescue for up to 20 years. Our mission is to find loving, permanent homes for homeless, abandoned, or abused cats and dogs. While awaiting adoption, the animals are cared for in the homes of our foster parents. During this time, they receive necessary veterinary care, which may include vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually evaluate each pet’s personality and temperament, enabling us to match adoptable animals with the most suitable permanent homes.

Adoption process
The adoption fee for animals through PAS ranges from $75 to $250 for purebred pets, with the average fee being $150. All animals available for adoption are spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm (with those positive either treated or in the treatment process), up to date on vaccinations, checked for intestinal parasites, and confirmed to be in good health by our participating veterinarians. Adoption also includes a microchip. In addition to signing an adoption contract, potential adopters must agree to a veterinarian reference check and a home visit. A valid driver's license or state ID card is required. This comprehensive screening process helps ensure that each animal is placed in a loving and committed home.
