Adoption Process
The adoption process begins with an application, followed by a phone interview with our adoption counselor. Next, a video meeting is arranged between the foster family and the potential adopter. If both parties find the arrangement suitable, an in-person meeting is scheduled where a contract is completed and the adoption fee is paid. The standard adoption fee is $200. Prior to adoption, all animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas.

SCRITCH Kittens is a foster-based rescue organization headquartered in foster homes throughout Santa Clara County. Our mission is to provide support and care for shy or sick animals in shelters that require rehabilitation before they can be adopted. Typically, these animals spend two to four weeks in a foster home, where they receive the necessary care and socialization to prepare them for adoption. My name is Jennifer Flick, and I founded SCRITCH Kittens two years ago to address the needs of kittens that were not adoptable at the shelter and were at risk of euthanasia or being subject to trap-neuter-return (TNR) at a young age. While we accept animals from the community when space allows, our current focus is on the San Jose Animal Care Center.
