The adoption fee is set at $1.00; however, adopters must agree to strict contractual terms. We maintain high standards and conduct comprehensive evaluations to ensure that our rescue animals are placed in suitable homes and with loving families.

Crossing Guardians in Chula Vista, CA

Crossing Guardians is a dedicated all-volunteer organization focused on animal rescue. We recognize that one of the primary challenges in saving the lives of Border Strays is providing essential veterinary care, which often includes emergency services, as well as food, supplies, and boarding. Our organization was established to address this need by facilitating the process of getting Border Strays off the streets and into safe environments where they can receive necessary care until they are placed with a rescue or adopted into permanent homes. Once a family or rescue agrees to take in an animal, we coordinate logistics and make transportation arrangements. In addition to our local efforts, Crossing Guardians supports independent rescuers in Mexico by providing food and supplies or wiring funds for them to procure these items themselves. We also assist with boarding costs, including the rental of homes used as temporary shelters for homeless animals until they can be transferred to a rescue or permanent home. Although Mexico is adjacent to Southern California, animal rescue efforts are complicated by the fact that it is a separate country. Therefore, each rescue mission involves forming cooperative alliances with individuals on both sides of the border. Our work is a collaborative effort that engages multiple participants. Through our collective commitment to improving the lives of stray animals along the California-Mexico border, we aim to challenge and change the prevailing notion that these animals do not matter.
