Adoption Process

If you are considering adopting a dog from our organization, the first step is to complete an adoption application. This application allows us to learn more about you and to assess whether the dog you are interested in will be a suitable fit for your family and lifestyle. If we determine that it could be a good match, we will schedule a home inspection. This visit ensures that your home will provide a safe and secure environment for the dog and gives you the opportunity to observe how the dog interacts with other pets and family members. Due to this policy, our adoptions are generally limited to the Los Angeles area and, in some cases, other parts of Southern California. We may occasionally make exceptions for an ideal match, but the home must still be within a reasonable driving distance. Our adoption fees range from $150 to $300 for dogs not originating from puppy mills and from $300 to $500 for dogs that do come from puppy mills. The higher fees for puppy mill dogs reflect the significant medical costs we incur for their care. These fees serve as tax-deductible donations to our organization and contribute to the rescue, rehabilitation, and long-term care of other dogs in our program. Please note that the adoption fee is non-refundable. All dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and receive a veterinary check-up and grooming prior to being placed in new homes. Please be aware that our adoption application is quite detailed and may take several minutes to complete. We encourage you to review our Adoption Procedures before filling out the application. To obtain a copy of our adoption procedures and application, please contact us at (661) 713-5240 or email us at [email protected]. We can send the application to you via fax, email, or regular mail. Completed forms should be faxed to us at (661) 554-0220.

Service Areas

We serve Los Angeles County and certain areas of Southern California.

The Brittany Foundation Animal Sanctuary in Acton, CA

The Brittany Foundation is a public charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, rehoming, and providing safe shelter for homeless dogs. Our efforts primarily concentrate on dogs that are often overlooked for adoption from "kill" shelters, including geriatric, disabled, and severely neglected animals. We also rescue victims of puppy mills, strays, and dogs displaced from foreclosure and hospice situations. In addition to our rescue operations, we serve as a sanctuary for dogs that may never find a permanent home, ensuring they receive lifelong care.
