About this shelter
Friends of the Animal Community in Sonora, CA
Friends of the Animal Community (F.O.A.C.) is a non-profit organization operated entirely by volunteers, committed to addressing the medical and social needs of adoptable pets in Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Mariposa Counties. Our mission is to facilitate the journey of these animals toward finding loving forever homes. My name is Maureen Miller, and I serve as the Director of Public Relations and Fundraising. I became involved with F.O.A.C. six years ago to help save animals in our community. As an animal lover, I am dedicated to giving a voice to those wonderful animals that cannot advocate for themselves.

Adopting from Friends of the Animal Community
Adoption process
Before adopting an animal, we conduct a veterinary check to ensure that current pets are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. For renters, we require a signed letter from the landlord approving pet ownership, or we will contact the landlord directly. All our animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for heartworm. The adoption fee is $75 for cats and $200 for dogs.
