Adoption Process
Potential adopters begin the process by completing an adoption application. Staff members then review the application to confirm that the adopter is qualified and compatible with the animal. Once approved, adopters are required to sign an adoption contract and a release of liability. It is essential that adopters demonstrate responsibility, maintain a stable residence, and possess the ability to provide appropriate care and healthcare for the animal. Additionally, they should be capable of meeting the specific needs of the animal, including its activity level and temperament.
Service Areas
We serve the greater San Francisco Bay Area, including the cities of Richmond, Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco, as well as Marin, San Francisco, Contra Costa, Alameda, and Mendocino counties.
The Milo Foundation in Point Richmond, CA
The Milo Foundation is dedicated to rescuing adoptable, at-risk animals from high-kill shelters across California. We ensure that each animal is microchipped, vaccinated, tested for heartworm, and spayed or neutered before adoption. Our team works to match animals with homes that are best suited to provide them with lifelong care. For those animals that require rehabilitation, we offer the necessary support. Additionally, we provide sanctuary on our 283-acre property in Mendocino County, California, for animals that are not placed in homes. We also focus on educating the public about responsible pet guardianship, including the importance of spaying and neutering.
