Adoption Process

Our adoption process begins with the prospective adopter completing an adoption application and signing an adoption contract. This contract stipulates that the adopted cat must be kept indoors, not declawed, and have a designated microchip phone number and contact person, among other provisions. We conduct an interview and observe the family interacting with the cat. If the interaction goes positively, we charge an adoption fee of $125 for kittens and $75 for cats aged 18 months and older. It is essential that all household members are present during this interaction to assess how the cat responds to each person, to check for any allergic reactions, and to ensure that everyone is in agreement with the adoption and the chosen cat. This approach helps reduce the likelihood of the cat being returned and addresses any allergy concerns. If you are renting, we require a copy of your rental agreement that permits pets, a letter from your landlord confirming that adopting this cat is allowed, or a phone call with your landlord.

Friends of San Martin Animal Society in Morgan Hill, CA

FOSMAS is an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to reducing the euthanasia rate at local shelters, addressing the overpopulation of homeless cats, and offering outreach services to assist animals in surrounding communities. Our mission is supported by increasing adoption rates and expanding our volunteer program. We ensure that all animals in our foster care receive a loving home, medical attention, and comfort until they are adopted. We offer specialized care for pre-wean kittens and provide training to our foster volunteers in animal care. FOSMAS supplies all necessary food, supplies, and medical treatments for pets placed in foster homes. We also organize adoption events and pet fairs to help find permanent homes for the animals in our care.
