Adoption Process
ADOPTION PROCESS: Upon arriving at our shelter, we recommend visiting our Dog and Cat Adoption Rooms. If you find a pet you are interested in adopting, please take note of the pet's name and proceed to the main lobby in the Grace Pavilion. Our staff is available to assist you in finding a pet that aligns with your lifestyle. After connecting with an Adoption Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to meet the pet to determine if you are a good match. You can spend time with the pet to better understand what it would be like to welcome them into your home. We encourage you to ask for recommendations, as our team works closely with the animals and may know the ideal companion for you. Please be aware that weekends can be particularly busy, so we appreciate your patience as we work to help you find the perfect pet. We suggest bringing your children to meet the pets you are considering. If you are looking to add another dog to your family, we can arrange for a visit with your current dog. Appointments for dog meetings should be scheduled with an Adoption Coordinator. We advise against cat-dog visits or cat-cat visits, and all visiting dogs must be on a leash and current on vaccinations. Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment that includes training, emotional support, and future medical care. The most successful adoptions occur when visitors take their time to find a suitable companion. New pets arrive at our shelter daily, so if you do not find the right match immediately, we encourage you to visit again. Once you adopt, we remain available to support you. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance, please call our behavior help line at 472-8815 or email us. ADOPTION FEES: We allow our adopters to set their own adoption fee; however, we rely on the generosity of donations to fund our quality programs and services for the community. On average, we invest approximately $300 in each animal to prepare them for adoption. Your adoption donation plays a vital role in supporting animals in need.
