Adoption Process

After you have viewed our adoptable dogs, the next step is to submit an application for the dog you are interested in adopting through our website. Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed, and a volunteer will reach out to you. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog at one of our upcoming Adoption Events. Alternatively, you can visit our shelter in Rosarito, Mexico, but an appointment is required. If, after meeting the dog, you feel it is the right fit, you will begin the adoption process as a two-week foster. At the end of the two weeks, if you decide to keep your new companion, a volunteer will visit your home to finalize the adoption. Should you determine during the two-week period that the dog is not a suitable match, you can return the dog to the next Adoption Event, and our Business Office will issue a full refund of the adoption fee. The adoption fee is $275.00. All our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and dewormed prior to adoption. As these dogs are rescues, basic training, including house training, will be the responsibility of the adopter unless otherwise noted in the dog's biography. Once you have submitted your application, we kindly ask for your patience as we respond. We are currently experiencing a high volume of applications, and while we strive to reply to all applicants, please understand that there may be delays in our responses. Our team consists entirely of volunteers working diligently to process all applications. For inquiries regarding cat adoptions, please contact Kathleen Paymard at the provided email address.

Service Areas

Our primary service area is Southern California. However, we may consider applications from outside this region on a case-by-case basis. Please note that we do not provide transportation, and adopters must be present in person to sign our adoption contract.
