Adoption Process

Our adoption process begins with interested adopters completing an application designed to identify any potential issues that could negatively impact our cats and kittens. Once we approve an adopter, we offer veterinary referrals to facilitate low-cost spaying or neutering for kittens that are not yet old enough at the time of adoption. We are committed to providing ongoing support for any behavioral challenges that may arise. Each adoption folder includes a variety of informational sheets along with the medical history of each cat. The only costs associated with our program are adoption fees, which help cover our veterinary expenses.

Fancy Cats Rescue Team in Herndon, VA

Fancy Cats Rescue Team was established to serve as a safety net for cats and kittens that have been abused, abandoned, or placed on euthanasia lists at participating shelters. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we collaborate with the United Way/CFC #8929. Our primary goal is to promote no-kill shelters. Education and responsible pet ownership are central to our mission. We offer literature, counseling, referral services, and educational resources to individuals and families seeking guidance. Our initiatives focus on teaching responsible pet guardianship, including the importance of spaying and neutering pets, addressing behavioral issues, and managing health concerns. Additionally, we provide a mentoring environment for our youth volunteers, allowing them to experience the rewards of community service while caring for animals in need. This engagement fosters self-confidence and encourages interaction with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Once an animal enters our program, it remains with us until a safe and appropriate home is found; we do not euthanize animals based on age or space limitations. Each animal receives necessary medical care, vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and compassionate attention. As an entirely volunteer-run organization with no paid staff, we rely on community donations to operate, with 91% of funds directly supporting the care and well-being of our animals. Our adoption fees also contribute to covering veterinary expenses.
