Adoption Process
The adoption process begins with the potential owner completing a pre-screening questionnaire. Following this, we arrange an appointment to assist them in selecting a kitten that matches both their needs and the personality of the kitten. The potential owner must sign a contract stipulating that if they are unable to care for the kitten at any point, it must be returned to SCKR. All kittens are required to be spayed or neutered. If a kitten is adopted before this procedure is performed (typically at 5 to 6 months of age), the adopters will be designated as "fosters" until they schedule an appointment with our veterinarian, which must occur no later than 30 days after the kitten reaches 6 months of age. Once the spaying or neutering is completed, our veterinarian will send a certificate to us, and we will provide the owner with their official owner contract, as they will no longer be considered foster parents. This process is in place to ensure that all kittens are sterilized. If the owner fails to comply with the agreement and refuses to sterilize the kitten, I will retain ownership rights and will reclaim the kitten.

Second Chance Kitten Rescue in PHOENIX, AZ
My partner and I operate a kitten care initiative from our home, driven by our deep commitment to saving lives. We recognize the urgent issue of the feral cat population in our area, where I also work full-time. Over the years, I have managed a colony of feral cats through a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, but it remains challenging to reach every cat, resulting in the continual emergence of kittens throughout the year. We take in kittens once they are old enough to survive independently, which helps us avoid the difficulties of trying to TNR them later when they may be too feral to tame. Each kitten undergoes a wellness visit at our veterinarian, where they receive deworming, FeLV testing, and any other necessary care. We then focus on finding suitable homes for them, with most kittens being sterilized by our vet when they reach 5 to 6 months of age.
