Adoption Process
Dog Adoption Process Overview We do not guarantee the health of any animals available for adoption. It is advisable to take your newly adopted pet to a licensed veterinarian as soon as possible. To the best of our knowledge, the animals are healthy at the time of adoption. Our goal is to facilitate the adoption of pets quickly, as this benefits both the animals and their new families, while also allowing us to rescue more dogs. We appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this process. Adoption Process Begin by selecting your dog or puppy. Our available dogs can be viewed on our website. To arrange a meeting with a specific dog or puppy, please email us to connect with the foster parents. Next, submit an application. Our Adoption Application is available on our website or at our adoption events. Applications can be submitted in person at an event or via email. Please note that applications will only be processed after you have selected and committed to adopting a specific animal, and they are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. For assistance at events, please visit our information table. Processing typically takes no more than one week from the time we receive your application and you have chosen an animal, until you sign the adoption contract and take your new pet home. When submitting your application, please ensure you are available to sign the adoption contracts. If you are a previous adopter, you will still need to complete a new application. The first step in processing your application is an interview with one of our adoption counselors. This is your opportunity to ask any questions about our organization, processes, or dogs. The interview can be conducted at an event or over the phone. All applications that have been interviewed will be submitted to the review committee for approval to proceed to the next step. Previous adopters must also participate in an interview. A homecheck will be assigned to a volunteer in your area, who will contact you to schedule a convenient time for the check. Previous adopters are not required to undergo another homecheck. If you currently own or have owned a companion animal, we will contact your veterinarian for a reference regarding any pets you have been responsible for as an adult. Please inform your vet to authorize us to speak with them. Once your interview, homecheck, and vet check are complete and your application has been approved by the review committee, we will reach out to you via phone or email with final instructions for signing the contract. The adoption fee must be paid in full by certified funds or cash at the time of contract signing. While optional, we welcome tax-deductible donations in addition to the adoption fee, and we appreciate your support.

Pets Return Home in Cottonwood, AZ
Pets Return Home (PRH) is dedicated to saving lives and strengthening families through our comprehensive support for dogs. Our operations are unified by a single objective: to eliminate unnecessary euthanasia. Every year, approximately 27 million pets become unexpectedly separated from their families. Out of these, five million never return home, resulting in an annual loss of $6 billion in pet recovery costs. Our Animal Search and Rescue Team program addresses this issue, alleviating the distress experienced by over 70 million Americans each year. Every day, countless dogs, including pregnant ones, face death in animal control facilities due to inaccurate behavior assessments or lack of access to behavioral training. Our Board & Train program offers a vital alternative that not only saves lives but also fosters family connections. Many pets are euthanized instead of receiving necessary medical treatment or long-term care. Our Convalescence Care program helps families afford the treatment their beloved pets need, allowing them to recover and stay together. Each year, thousands of pets suffer or die due to family inexperience, neglect, or abuse. Our Training programs equip families with the skills needed to create a safe and nurturing environment for their dogs. Volunteering with PRH raises awareness, educates the community, provides essential care for animals, and helps reduce costs associated with our programs.
