Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the completion of an adoption application. If the application is approved, the next step is to schedule a meet and greet at a local park, which is not a dog park. If the potential adopters have a current pet, they are required to bring their dog to this meeting. If the initial meet and greet is successful, we will then arrange a home visit. During this visit, we conduct a second meet and greet (if applicable) to ensure that the adopters’ dog is comfortable with the presence of another dog in their home. We will also assess the security of the yard and discuss what to expect when integrating a new dog into the household. Additionally, we will review the adoption contract and the associated fee. All adoptions include a two-week foster-to-adopt period. Furthermore, adopters must schedule a mandatory in-home training session, which is included in the adoption fee, within the first 60 days following the adoption.

Standing Proud Pit Bull Rescue Center is a non-profit organization, currently seeking 501(c)(3) status, based in the east valley of Arizona. Our mission is to decrease euthanasia rates in local shelters, assist pet owners in keeping their pets, rehabilitate and rehome stray or surrendered pit bull type dogs, and educate the community about responsible pet ownership and the misconceptions surrounding pit bull breeds. In the coming year, we will establish a facility that will serve as Arizona's first dedicated pit bull rescue center, providing a safe and welcoming environment for our dogs while also hosting community events focused on responsible pet ownership.
