Tri-State Equine Adoption and Rescue (T.E.A.R.) is an equine rescue based in Marydel, Delaware, located in Kent County about 10 miles east of Dover; three other animal shelters or rescues also serve Kent County. Founded in 1998, TEAR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing sanctuary to horses in need while educating the public in the proper care of equines. The rescue also works to build a special link between rescued horses and people of all ages, including disadvantaged children and children with emotional and behavioral challenges. Visits to the rescue are by appointment only.
