Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with a Pre-Adopt form that addresses essential care questions related to the specific species. Additionally, an adoption contract will be provided. Adoption fees vary based on the species and whether the adopter chooses to purchase the cage in which the animal is currently housed.

At Apple Wood, our mission is to offer rehabilitation, shelter, and appropriate care to all small exotic mammals in need, with a strong emphasis on their mental health to promote successful rehoming. We operate as a no-kill sanctuary. I serve as the primary contact, caregiver, and financial supporter of Apple Wood Rehabilitation. My commitment stems from the fact that larger shelters in Denver often euthanize small animals, and those that are available for adoption frequently do not receive the proper care they require. There is currently no other shelter in Denver that specifically addresses the unique needs of small exotic mammals, commonly referred to as "pocket pets."
