Adoption Process

Our adoption process involves several steps to ensure a successful match between pets and their new families. We begin with an adoption application, followed by a judicial background check, personal references, and a home visit. An adoption contract is required for all successful adoptions. We do not place dogs in homes where they will be kept outside. Our organization rescues dogs from high-kill, rural shelters and places them in foster homes. After the dogs receive necessary veterinary care and are spayed or neutered, their information will be listed on our website to start accepting adoption applications.

The service areas include Martinsburg, West Virginia; Hagerstown, Maryland; Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; and Winchester, Virginia. In West Virginia, the organization serves Berkeley, Morgan, and Jefferson counties. In Pennsylvania, it serves Franklin County. In Maryland, the service areas include Washington and Frederick counties. In Virginia, the organization serves Frederick County.

Paws Crossed Dog Rescue in Hedgesville, WV

We rescue dogs from high-kill, rural shelters and place them in foster homes. After the dogs are vetted and spayed or neutered as necessary, their information will be published on our website to start accepting adoption applications. Our organization consists of a dedicated group of animal rescuers and fosters who are passionate about saving shelter dogs. Personally, I have fostered 60 dogs in my home over the past four years, and some of our potential volunteers have fostered even more during that time with various rescue organizations. I maintain a strong relationship with our local animal control facility and collaborate closely with them to ensure that dogs are placed in suitable homes.
