Adoption Process

The adoption process includes submitting an application, conducting a home visit, and performing reference checks. If all aspects are approved, there is a $75 adoption fee, followed by the signing of a contract.

Operation Underdog, Inc in Cool Ridge, WV

OPUNDO was founded to support the Humane Society of Raleigh County (HSRC) in Beckley, West Virginia, in its efforts to transfer healthy, adoptable dogs and cats to rescues, thereby preventing euthanasia. At the time of establishment, the shelter faced a critical situation with a high rate of euthanasia. As the shelter improved its self-sufficiency under new management, OPUNDO expanded its mission to include facilitating adoptions directly. We rescue animals from both shelters and the community to help them find homes and connect with rescues. Additionally, we provide a monthly transport service to a low-cost spay and neuter clinic for the public, as well as transportation for shelter animals to reach rescues on weekends.
