Adoption Process

Individuals interested in becoming Forever Fosters can complete an application on our website. Following this, they will undergo a Home Check. If they have other pets, these pets must participate in a meet-and-greet. Once these steps are successfully completed, the individual must sign a contract before bringing the dog home. We only place dogs in foster homes located within a 100-mile radius of our Sanctuary, as we cover all veterinary care at no cost for the dog's lifetime. There are no fees associated with this process, and dogs can be returned to us at any time for any reason.

Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is a Forever Foster Home sanctuary located in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. The sanctuary typically accommodates around 100 senior dogs, with additional dogs placed in temporary and Forever Foster Homes. Our mission is to provide lifetime homes for senior dogs while raising awareness about the joys and challenges of caring for older canines. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Senior dogs, particularly those with medical issues or disabilities, face a significantly higher risk of euthanasia in shelters compared to younger dogs. This is often due to the difficulty in finding adopters for them, given their shorter life expectancy and potential veterinary costs. However, many of these wonderful senior dogs can enjoy a happy and fulfilling life if given the opportunity. They are excellent companions, known for their maturity, calm demeanor, and affection. However, adjusting to a new environment can be challenging for them, and once they settle in, relocating can be stressful. Therefore, we prioritize finding Forever Foster Homes where they can spend their retirement years as cherished family members. Our mission includes providing a loving home, nutritious food, high-quality veterinary care, compassion, and comfort to senior dogs for the rest of their lives. We aim to establish a network of Forever Foster Homes to place more senior dogs in loving environments throughout their lives. Additionally, we are committed to educating the public about the joys and challenges of caring for aging dogs and collaborating with other rescue organizations to promote the adoption of senior dogs.
