If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who’s always ready for the next adventure, Alfie might just be your perfect match! This goofy, happy-go-lucky guy has been all smiles during his time at the shelter, winning over staff with his cheerful personality and love for life. Alfie is a very active boy who thrives when he has positive outlets for his energy. Whether it’s chasing tennis balls, playing an endless game of fetch, exploring the trails, or joining you on your next road trip, Alfie is happiest when he’s spending time with his people. He is incredibly family-oriented and forms strong bonds with those he loves. Alfie previously lived indoors and has excellent house manners. He’s potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside by whining. He’s also crate trained, happily sleeping through the night in his kennel and relaxing there when home alone for a few hours. He knows sit, stay, and come, enjoys car rides, and handles bathing and general handling with ease. Like many clever dogs, Alfie may help himself to unattended snacks if given the opportunity, so keeping tempting treats off the counter will set him up for success! Because of his energetic, rambunctious nature, Alfie would likely do best with dog savvy or older children who can keep up with his enthusiasm. He previously lived with dogs but may be protective of his food, so slow introductions and supervised mealtimes are recommended. Alfie does have a playful and friendly demeanor with other dogs. We are more than happy to provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed! Alfie is not a good fit for a home with cats or other small animals, as he has a strong instinct to chase them.
