Breeder felt he was too big for their dogs so we were asked if we would take him. Thomas is learning to be a pet but he’ll still need an understanding adopter. He’s not been well socialized but because he is so young he’ll be a fast study. He’s already craving attention from his foster mom and dad. He’ll need further help with potty training but does use our doggie door. He does well with other dog’s male and female and LOVES toys. How about it do you want to take a chance on him and have him give you many years of love and devotion? Our must haves for him are: Fenced in yard Someone that can be home more than not to help him finish his house-training skills Another young well socialized small dog for him to play with and learn from No apartments, high rises or condos as Dachshunds do like to bark We ask that you give this little boy a second chance at a better life, he’s young and in no time, he’ll fit right in and leave the thoughts of the breeding world behind. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
