More about Croissant

Meet Croissant! We accepted this cutie in early June 2026 after she was rejected by the local San Diego shelter for being too “wild and rough.”  We were contacted by her rescuer for assistance and we took her in.  This beauty has the typical personality of a kitten with “no manners because no one taught me about manners.”  She reminds us of a bottle baby kitten who was nursed and spoiled!  She is a princess who will no doubt grow up to be a QUEEN, but she will be respectful of her “subjects” and the “staff” if taught right. Ha, ha!  She adores attention and is very flirty.  BUT when she becomes over-stimulated, which can happen within minutes, she will start swatting and hissing while simultaneously seeking attention and flirting.  We think that whoever had her must have played rough with her, so now our work is cut out for us as we try to deconstruct that behavior and teach her to be gentle!  We will upload some videos so you can see what we are talking about.  For this reason, we are NOT sure if she would be a good match for a home with seniors (who may bleed easily if accidentally scratched or given a love bite) or young children who will pet her too much and not be able to read the signs and her body language, which would signal that she is about to deliver a love bite or a swat.  Her adopter will need to redirect her behavior when she gets over stimulated.   We would love to find a foster for this little girl as of 6/24.  We are looking for someone who can work with her and teach her about gentle manners.  If you are interested in adopting this little senorita, you are welcome to try a foster-to-adopt trial to ensure that her personality would be a good match for you.  She is a gorgeous little fluff with an innocent personality, who lives a tomboy life. She seems to seek out cat friends and although she fluffs up like a Halloween kitty easily when she is scared by one of the approaching foster dogs, she settles down quickly and allows them to smell her.  Aside from being a bit rough and tumble, she is your typical kitten who is active, playful, has excellent litter box skills, and has a tiny little cute meow.  Her meow makes us laugh, especially when she tries to act all tough. Ha, ha!  Croissant has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, is microchipped, and is up to date on her medical.  She is scheduled to be spayed in July, which is a good reason to try a foster-to-adopt trial rather than going straight to adoption.    Croissant will do great in a household where the family has experience in cat ownership.  They should understand that she is currently rambunctious and can get over stimulated quickly, but since she is very young, working with her will allow her to learn to be more gentle. Yet, they should also understand that she may continue to play rough for life.  We will upload videos of her personality soon.
