Zoey is the kind of dog that quietly steals your heart.This petite 7-year-old German Shepherd mix came to the shelter after a lifetime of being let down. She arrived with her puppy after suffering abuse and neglect. Her puppy has since been adopted, but Zoey is still waiting for someone to choose her.Recently, Zoey got a much-needed break from shelter life during a Pups & PJs sleepover, and she reminded everyone what a lovely dog she truly is. She spent the evening watching the World Cup with her hosts, went for leisurely walks, and happily accepted all the cuddles and snacks offered her way. Her hosts described her as calm, sweet, friendly, and incredibly well behaved. No barking. No chaos. No concerns.Zoey is very people-oriented and seems to genuinely want to make her humans happy. She walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, knows sit and come, and responds well to correction. She noticed other dogs on her outings but never reacted beyond a little curiosity. Loud noises can make her a bit nervous, but considering what she's been through, that's understandable.What stands out most about Zoey is her gentle nature. Despite everything life has thrown at her, she's still trusting, still loving, and still hoping someone will finally give her the life she deserves.If you're looking for a calm, mature companion who would rather cuddle on the couch than cause trouble, Zoey might be your girl. She's done raising puppies. She's done surviving. It's time for Zoey to know what it feels like to simply be loved.
