Akira is a stunning 1.5-year-old shepherd-type girl weighing about 70 pounds. Tall, lean, and graceful, she has the look of a German Shepherd with long legs and a gorgeous fluffy shepherd tail. Pictures simply don’t do her justice—she is even more beautiful and impressive in person.This sweet girl is a gentle soul who is still learning what it feels like to be truly loved. Akira spent months in a rural shelter before coming into rescue, and she’s now adjusting to life as a cherished family member. While she can be a little shy in new situations, she is settling in more every day and is discovering that people can be kind and trustworthy.Akira is incredibly smart and eager to learn. She is picking up new routines quickly and continues to make great progress. She is almost fully house trained, working on her crate training, rides wonderfully in the car, and walks nicely on leash without much pulling. She takes everything in stride and seems genuinely happy to learn.One of the most special things about Akira is how calm and gentle she is. Despite her shepherd appearance, she isn’t a high-strung dog. She enjoys curling up on the couch, quietly following her people around the house, and simply being near those she loves. She has a sweet, easygoing nature that makes her a joy to have around.Akira gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes, is good with cats, and does well with children. Because she is still building confidence and learning about home life, she would thrive in a patient, slower-paced home that will give her the time she needs to fully blossom into the amazing dog she is meant to be.
