More about Pecan
Meet Pecan! She’s a little goofy, a little shy — and very proud of both! Pecan is the sweetest, sniffiest little “nut” you’ll ever meet, equal parts gentle explorer and cozy couch companion. After arriving at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center as a fearful stray, she’s made incredible progress and has been thriving in a foster home while getting ready for adoption. Pecan loves getting out to explore and is happiest on slow, sniffy walks where she can take in the world at her own pace. You’ll often find her wading in the water, following interesting smells and then heading home to curl up for a nap, especially if there’s a soft spot on the couch. In foster care, her silly side has really started to shine. Pecan can be a bit shy in new situations, especially when people pass by close to her, but she settles nicely when given space to observe. With a little patience, a cheerful voice and some treats, she warms up quickly and enjoys gentle affection. Pecan does well with other dogs and likes to play, but she prefers calm, respectful companions who won’t overwhelm her. She also does best with a little space around high-value items like food or bones. Pecan is looking for a home that will let her move at her own pace and continue building confidence. In return, you’ll get a sweet, sensitive companion who loves the simple things and is truly a joy to spend time with.
