More about Bunny
LOCATION: Shirley, NYDOB: 12/15/2024Bunny is a beautiful female German Shepherd/Great Dane mix with a sweet, loving personality and a playful spirit. She was adopted in September 2025 and has grown into a smart, affectionate companion who thrives on being close to her people. With her soulful eyes, adorable ears, and gentle nature, Bunny has a way of quickly stealing hearts. She is approximately 70 lbs, spayed, fully vetted, and currently on monthly Simparica Trio prevention. Bunny is house trained, crate trained, rides wonderfully in the car, and already has a strong obedience foundation. She is expected to pass her Level 1 obedience training and has the potential to continue into therapy dog work with the right guidance and continued confidence building.Bunny is a surprisingly calm dog for her age and breed mix. She enjoys playing fetch, zooming around the yard with her toys, going on walks, and then happily curling up on the couch or bed for snuggles. She loves being around her humans and forms very strong bonds with them. She is trusting, affectionate, and easy to handle for grooming and care, including ears, paws, tail, and teeth. She does well with respectful, dog-savvy children and has been wonderful with the family’s 12-year-old son. She listens to his commands, enjoys bedtime cuddles, and is gentle taking treats from his hand. Bunny also does very well with people in general and tends to look to her humans for reassurance in new situations.Bunny can be timid and insecure in unfamiliar environments and would benefit from continued confidence training. While she generally ignores unfamiliar dogs in public, she has had unpredictable issues with dogs living in the home. After months of peaceful coexistence, she began displaying guarding behaviors and conflicts with other resident dogs. Because of this, Bunny would do best as the only pet in the home where she can feel secure and continue to thrive without stress or competition. She has lived around cats but has been kept separated. While she does not react strongly to them, she does have prey drive toward birds and squirrels, so a cat-free home may be safest unless the cats are experienced with large, energetic dogs.Bunny’s ideal home would be with someone committed to continued training, structure, and confidence building. She would love a family that enjoys cuddling, playing in the yard, and including her in daily life. She is used to having people around often, as her foster mom works from home, so a home where she is not crated for long workdays would be best.Bunny is an incredibly loving dog with so much potential. In the right home, she will be a loyal best friend and devoted companion for years to come. All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are available here:https://linktr.ee/SrgdrrIf donating, please note who or what your donation is for.For more information, please email us at [email protected].
