More about Georgie and Stella

We haven’t heard many stories quite this heartbreaking. Stella and Georgie are 2 year old Great Dane/Poodle mixes who suddenly lost everything after their owner tragically passed away by suicide. In the middle of grief, the owner’s mother made the heartbreaking decision to surrender them to the shelter. After everything they went through, they are just hoping to find their forever home together.  Stella (75 lbs) and Georgie (80 lbs) are healthy, spayed/neutered, and truly EXCELLENT dogs. They are loving, affectionate, gentle souls. Stella is the more playful one, she may jump up a little when she gets excited because she loves people so much. Georgie is more mellow, calm, and low key. Together, they complement each other perfectly. Big dogs are already overlooked far too often, and bonded pairs have it even harder. But we know someone out there has room in their heart and home for them. Stella & Georgie- Foster Update:Stella and Georgie are a bonded pair of 2-year-old Great Dane/Poodle mixes who have shown incredible resilience after losing their owner unexpectedly. After a difficult transition into rescue, these two are now thriving in foster care and showing everyone just how adaptable, loving, and special they truly are. At 75 and 80 pounds, Stella and Georgie may be large dogs, but they’ve adjusted beautifully to apartment living in New York City. They are medium-energy companions who enjoy short bursts of play followed by long naps curled up together on the couch. Both dogs are fully house trained, crate trained, and have excellent home manners. They eat meals in their crates, settle easily at bedtime or when left alone, and have had no accidents in foster care. Personality-wise, they are affectionate, goofy, and incredibly cuddly. They love being close to their people and have absolutely no concept of personal space. Georgie loves toys, pouncing, and playful antics, while Stella is more laid-back and happiest chewing on a bone nearby. On walks, Stella is calm, observant, and continues building confidence with city noises. Georgie is friendly with people and doing great with training, currently working on staying calm when he sees other dogs. Their foster’s favorite things about them: their goofy personalities, their endless affection, and watching them play and comfort one another. Their ideal home could be a quieter city neighborhood or a home with a yard where they can run and play together. Most importantly, they need a family ready to welcome both of them and continue giving them the love, stability, and fresh start they deserve.
