More about KING
Meet King, Sacramentoâs Most Handsome Explorer!Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of spending the day with King, a lovable 64lb Pit Bull Terrier from Front Street Animal Shelter, through their Doggie Day Out program. From 10 AM to 4 PM, this sweet boy stole my heart (and a few treats) as we explored Sacramento together. We kicked things off in Old Sacramento, strolling along the river and checking out local landmarks. We even stopped by Evangelineâs, though it was closed, where King joked âIâd make a killer pirate. Arrr you ready to adopt me?â ?????From there, we wandered up towards K Street, enjoying the classical music playing under the overpass before heading toward DOCO. Kingâs nose led us straight to the Capitol Mall Farmers Market, where he rolled in the grass, soaked up the sunshine, and charmed strangers left and right. A local dog treat booth even gifted him a snack because as King would say, âmy face works every time.âNext stop: LowBrau in Lavender Heights, one of Sacramentoâs most dog-friendly spots. King wasted no time making friends with the staff, and his puppy-dog eyes worked so well that the cook made him a fresh hot dog. (Letâs just say he inhaled it in record time.)After lunch with friends, we took a break at home, where King inspected the pool and a nearby lake. His water-entry skills are⦠a work in progress. He almost fell in once and did fall in the second time, but handled it like a champ! According to King, âI was just testing the temperatureâ¦for science!â. In the backyard, King showed off his favorite games: tug-of-war, fetch, and keep-away. Heâs a smart boy who knows sit, lay down, shake, and stay, and heâs very treat- and toy-motivated. He happily munched on the jerky from the market and chewed on a tennis ball before we headed back out for ice cream. We stopped at Salt & Straw for a pup cup where he politely declined and told me âmore hot dog, less ice cream pleaseâ. We ended our day relaxing at Mas Tacos on R Street where he was calm, content to lay between my legs or under the table, just watching the world go by.King is a serious snuggler, he loves nuzzling his head into your side and closing his eyes while you pet him. While he enjoys walks and adventures, he seems happiest taking breaks to roll in the grass, smell the flowers and watch the world.Leash Manners: Great, minimal pulling except when excited about other dogs.Dog & Cat Reactions: Curious about dogs, calm but unsure with cats (just a couple barks).Kid Encounters: Indifferent and well-mannered.Car Rides: Excellent, he sits patiently and enjoys looking out the window.King would be the perfect companion for friend hangouts, sports games, parks, breweries, and road trips. Heâs ready to bring joy, cuddles, and a little bit of adventure to his forever home.Want to meet King? Visit Front Street Animal Shelter and ask about him! Youâll see why Iâm convinced heâs royalty. As King would say, âI may not wear a crown every day, but I promise to be king of your heart.â https://youtube.com/shorts/A5kmiajFPfE?feature=share
