More about Coltonobre / Callie

Story | Callie is a 6-month-old Lab mix with a heart as big as Texas and a story that’ll tug at your soul in the sweetest way. She spent her early days surviving on the streets, where she found safety and comfort in a little “street family” of four other dogs—different shapes, sizes, and backgrounds, but bonded like they’d known each other forever. Thanks to a kind friend in our network who faithfully fed Callie and her crew, and with help from a few real-life good Samaritans in Texas, every one of those dogs was given the chance to start a new life full of safety and love. And we were lucky enough to bring Callie into ours.Callie is ready for her happily-ever-after… could it be with you? Want to adopt Callie? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Callie truly is as sweet as they come—gentle, tender, and full of quiet hope. She’s still a bit shy and cautious around people at first (the world hasn’t always been kind), but she’s learning day by day that humans can be trusted. In her Texas foster home, she’s been warming up more and more—offering extra tail wags, leaning in a little closer, and allowing more pets as her confidence grows. Every small step feels like a big victory, and she is absolutely blossoming.Other Dogs | When it comes to other dogs, Callie shines. She’s social, respectful, and happiest when she has canine buddies around—she’d love a forever home with another friendly dog (or two!) to help her feel secure and show her the ropes.Cats | Unsure, although Callie has proven to be cautious and respectful of all creatures with fur so may do just fine with a kitty friend in the home!Children | Callie hasn’t been around children yet, and young kids may be a bit overwhelming right now since loud noises and fast movements can send her back into “watchful mode.” She’s not a tough case—just a soft-hearted girl still finding her footing.Training | Because she’s still young, with slow, thoughtful exposure to new experiences, she’s going to keep building confidence and stepping into the wonderful dog she was always meant to be. What Callie needs most is patience, gentle encouragement, and a family willing to let trust grow at her pace. She’s eager to please, smart, and full of potential—and if you invest in her, she’ll repay you with loyalty, gratitude, and the kind of love that feels extra special because you truly earned it.Leash | Callie hasn’t been on a leash yet, so leash walking will be a brand-new skill for her. Because she’s still gaining confidence with new experiences, she’ll likely need a little time and patience to warm up to the leash and harness.Activity Level | Callie’s activity level has been moderate so far. She has a really special ‘match-the-energy-of-the-room’ kind of personality—playful when it’s playtime, and happy to relax when things are calm (which is pretty rare for a pup her age!). She’ll enjoy daily walks and some playtime, but she’s not a nonstop busy-body.Health Notes | Healthy and up-to-date on all of her vaccines!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
