More about EYELA

Meet Eyela, the black medium haired gal! Eyela is an outgoing, social cat who is looking for a cat savvy adopter to meet her match. She has lived with another cat and has done well. In her previous home, she was indoors most of the time but enjoyed sunning herself on a safe balcony. Eyela used her litterbox reliably in her previous home. Eyela needs a cat savvy adopter because she experiences a thing called overstimulation. Overstimulation in cats is normal. An ideal adopter would be one that would watch Eyela’s body language to look for early signs that she is over threshold (tail twitching, ears turned, skin rippling) and stop interactions if they see these signs. She would thrive from daily interaction through mental and physical stimulation through wand-toy style play and other forms of enrichment. Eyela’s right eye was surgically removed at the Shelter after intake. She is healing well and ready for her adoptive home. The clinic team can discuss recovery with any potential adopters who come in.Eyela’s adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to the Bogey Fund – a fund that draws adopter’s eyes towards often overlooked black cats in Shelters. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
