More about PAKITO
This handsome, large fluffball is ready to find a loving home. With his long, majestic coat and gentle presence, heâs a total head-turner who looks like a friendly forest bear.Heâs a sensitive soul who likes to take things slow at first. While it might take him a little time to warm up and show his full personality to new people, once youâve earned his trust, youâll have a loyal friend for life. Heâs done well with other dogs in the past, but he has made it clear that the `cat life` isn't for himâheâs looking for a feline-free sanctuary where he can relax. If you have a patient heart and would love some extra fluff in your life, this sweet boy is waiting for you. Heâs equal parts loyalty and affection, just looking for a soft place to land and a family that understands the best things in life are often canine.Notes from my foster friends and adventure buddies:`Pakito is such a sweet dog! He is truly one of the most gentle giants out there, and he would be perfect for a mellow home with lots of outdoor space or someone who is willing to take him on many walks because he loves being outside! He is very shy around new people, but he warmed up very quickly! He was also very well behaved in the car. We went on a few long walks and spent a lot of time outside since he seemed to love that! Pakito also took a nap next to me while I did homework, and while he didn't seem like he would be very interested in toys, he took a few treats. He is incredibly well-behaved and has very good house manners. Pakito is truly like a giant teddy bear! He is so sweet and any family would be lucky to have him! I think he would be best suited for a family that does not have other pets or young children since he seems to like a more mellow environment, and he definitely loves being outside! Honestly one of the best behaved dogs I've ever seen!``Pakito is a very mellow, independent dog with a calm, nonchalant personality. He takes a little time to warm up but becomes more comfortable as he gets to know you. Heâs well-behaved, tolerant of handling, and low-pressure to be around. He can be a little jumpy or cautious around new sounds and experiences at first, but he usually settles quickly once he realizes thereâs nothing to worry about. He can get excited and may lunge or bark at other dogs, especially if theyâre reactive, and seems to have a strong prey/play drive. We started with a 4.5-mile hike, where Pakito walked wonderfully on the leash. He enjoyed exploring, sniffing, and staying calm, only briefly focused on a herd of deer. Afterwards, we went downtown Carrboro and visited a few dog-friendly spots. Pakito patiently sniffed around and remained relaxed in public spaces, including at an outdoor restaurant, where he sat or lay quietly without begging or whining. He payed no attention to the food I was eating and I was able to enjoy myself and relax during lunch. My favorite thing about Pakito is his calm, independent nature. Heâs not needy but enjoys company once comfortable. Heâs well-mannered, observant, and adapts beautifully to new environments. Heâs a quiet, gentle companion who brings a sense of peace and calm wherever he goes.`
