More about Chili #1

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails).   Chili | 8-year-old Collie/German Shepherd mix | Gentle soul with a soft spot for chin scratches Chili is a sweet, mature lady who’s ready to settle into a calm, loving home where she can truly relax and be herself. At 8 years old, this Collie/German Shepherd mix brings a lovely balance of medium energy and laid-back companionship—she enjoys leisurely walks with plenty of time to sniff, a good car ride, and then curling up nearby for some quiet time. She’s house trained with a consistent routine, sleeps well through the night, and has done just fine when left home alone for short periods, especially with another dog around. Chili is also highly food motivated, knows “wait,” and responds well to gentle structure and boundaries. While she’s still getting the hang of leash walking, Chili is making great progress and seems to enjoy taking in the world at her own pace. She currently lives with a larger dog and does well overall, though she can be a bit selective with other dogs—sometimes curious, sometimes unsure—so slow introductions are important. She has shown some resource guarding with favorite spots and toys, and can be a little protective of her space, so a home that understands and respects her boundaries will help her continue to feel secure. Because of this, she may do best as the only dog or with a similarly sized, easygoing companion. Chili can be shy and occasionally startled by sudden movement, but she is incredibly sweet with the people she trusts and absolutely melts for gentle ear rubs and chin scratches. She enjoys being brushed, prefers crunchy treats, and has a quiet, observant nature—unless, of course, there’s a squirrel or rabbit to keep an eye on. Her ideal home is a quieter environment with patient adopters who will give her time to adjust and continue building her confidence. While her past is unknown, she does have some dental disease that will need attention, and ongoing care will help keep her feeling her best. For someone looking for a loyal, low-key companion with a tender heart, Chili could be the perfect match.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $125. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here. Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email [email protected] for more information, as we can't accept calls.
