Hi, I’m Dane. I might not come running up to you right away—but I promise, I’m worth the wait. I’m a two-year-old black cat with a soft heart that just takes a little time to shine. New people and sudden movements can make me nervous, so I might scurry off when you first approach. It’s not that I don’t like you—I just need a quiet moment to feel safe. But if you’re patient with me, something really special happens… I choose you. Once we’re friends, I’m incredibly sweet and gentle. I’ll talk to you in my deep, soulful meow (especially if you happen to be near the food—I am always a little hungry). I like knowing you’re close, and at night, I’ll curl up beside you and sleep peacefully, happy to have someone I trust. I get along just fine with other cats, and I don’t cause any trouble… well, except for my little talent of opening cabinets. (What can I say? A curious—and hungry—mind is a powerful thing.) What I really need is someone experienced—someone who understands that love doesn’t always show up loudly or instantly. Someone who will give me the time and space to come out of my shell at my own pace. In a calm, quiet home, I know I’ll blossom into the loyal, affectionate companion I’m meant to be.
