Vaquero Ready for a Soft Saddle!El Chapo rode into our lives once before in 2019, and after returning to the shelter in February he’s been waiting patiently for a new ranch to call home. This gentle senior carries himself like a true vaquero: calm, steady, and full of quiet charm. He’s stolen the hearts of the shelter team with his warm, easy smile and the way he brightens every room he ambles into.He does have a few medical needs: a managed diet to help him lose some weight, a handful of lumps and bumps including a small mass on his eyelid that needs monitoring, and the occasional stiffness after a long walk. None of that dims his spirit—El Chapo enjoys short, gentle strolls, loves company, and is social with other dogs (he’s even sharing a suite with a buddy right now).The shelter is no place for a senior who deserves a soft bed, slow sunsets, and a patient rescuer to call his own. No one reclaimed him after he came back, and he’s ready to spend his golden years in comfort, not in a kennel. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis.
